There is no single "hardest" GCSE, as difficulty is subjective and depends on the student. However, based on out students' requests, subjects like Mathematics and certain modern languages are frequently cited as difficult due to problem-solving demands and complex concepts. Subjects with a high emphasis on subjective interpretation or extensive memorisation, such as English Literature and History, are also considered challenging. Within the Sciences, Physics is usually mentioned as the "trickiest".

Yes and no. If your child is looking into tuition at the start of the school year, tuition once a week will make a noticeable difference to their confidence with a subject. However, if you haven't started yet and exam season is approaching, it would sensible to invest in more frequent tuition to make their revision and exam preparation as productive as possible.
The good news is the boundary for a grade 9 typically ranges from 70-85% depending on the subject. This means that getting a grade 9 is actually more achievable than it seems, however getting a grade 9 is definitely still a mark of genuine academic excellence.
