After her A-levels in Biology, Physics and English Literature, Sonia began her BSc in Genetics with Microbiology at Queen Mary University of London. She completed a research project in mammalian DNA sequencing and by cross referencing her results with skull morphology Sonia helped develop a classification model which is widely used today.
After completing her degree, she worked in the City as a recruitment consultant and within a year she changed her career path to follow her passion in teaching and began her PGCE in King’s College London. Her first teaching post was an inner London school called Sydney Russell School where she was quickly promoted to Deputy Head of Year 8. September 2014, after 5 years at Sydney Russell School she transferred to St Martin’s School in Brentwood. One of her responsibilities was to raise the attainment in Year 11 Double Science. Sonia and her dedicated team raised the attainment for Double Science by 30% in summer 2015.
She has been tutoring for over 7 years and her passion for teaching continues to grow. She tailors her approach to each individual student by identifying their needs and assisting them to make progress in their exam results.
Outside of teaching, her hobbies include travelling, reading and baking.
