Rachael is an experienced, enthusiastic Modern Foreign Languages teacher. Her passion for languages was developed throughout her education and her many experiences abroad. Following the completion of her AS level in German and A levels in French, Psychology and Human Biology, Rachael studied a 4 year degree in French and Education at the University of Roehampton where she graduated in 2008 with a 1st Class degree. The following year Rachael graduated from University of Roehampton again with a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages.
Rachael is TEFL trained and has twice lived and worked in France, teaching English to both primary and secondary aged students as well as running intensive language classes for adult learners. In 2014 Rachael moved to Spain and immersed herself in the Spanish culture whilst developing her Spanish language skills. Rachael’s teaching experience is extensive. Rachael has been a qualified Modern Foreign Languages secondary teacher for over five years and has held the posts of Head of PSHE and Head of Languages. During the academic year of 2014-2015 Rachael worked as a Training Coordinator for Uteach Recruitment, training and mentoring overseas teachers to teach in the UK and currently works with The Bourne Education Trust as an SLE (Specialist Leader in Education) to improve teaching practice.
Rachael has been a private tutor on a one to one basis for the past two years. Rachael has a multitude of skills and techniques that enables her to adapt her tutoring approach to compliment the tutee’s learning style. She knows it is essential to develop a high level of trust with her tutees which she does with her patience and encouragement whilst building their self-confidence in the subject, which can often be the main barrier when learning a language. Rachael has a natural ability to vary her classes making her lessons interactive and engaging. This maximises focus and learning. A variety of teaching methods and revision techniques are used and introduced in order to fulfill potential and achieve the highest possible results.
