Originally from the Republic of Ireland, Claire recently moved to the UK in 2016. After completing her Leaving Certificate (Irish equivalent to A-Level) in 2012, she began her Joint Honours degree in Mathematics and Geography at St. Patricks College, Dublin City University.
During her degree, she took up tutoring roles and she was involved with both the Student’s Union and the Mathematics Department with a role as a class representative. She was involved in taking extra education modules during her degree where her passion for working with young people grew.
She graduated with a Second-Class Honours degree in 2016. Immediately following her graduation, she began her teacher training in Goldsmiths, University of London where she completed her Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). She trained in Ricards Lodge High School in Wimbledon for her first placement and Platanos College in Stockwell for her second. She completed her PGCE with an Ofsted rating of Outstanding in her first placement and Good in her second. Claire is now a full time teacher of Mathematics at Ricards Lodge in Wimbledon.
The schools in which Claire has worked have provided her with experience of working with a diverse range of pupils. Claire has attended a range of training sessions to continue to improve her professional development, including pedagogy, differentiation and Assessment for Learning. These skills, amongst many others, have enabled Claire to be a very creative and inspiring Maths teacher. Her personal approach to tutoring stems from the importance of giving the students the tools and the knowledge needed to achieve success. Claire is accomplished at developing a good rapport with her students on an individual basis and helping them to achieve higher grades.
Claire also had trained as a ballet dancer during her teenage years and after her move to the UK she joined the London Russian Ballet School to regain her skills. Other hobbies include baking and cooking healthy food and travelling with friends.
