Alex completed her A levels in Maths, Biology and Business Studies in 2010. She was then accepted into the University of Ireland, Maynooth to do a four-year Bachelor of Science Education Degree and successfully achieved a 1st Class Honours in all her subjects. Throughout her degree studies, Alex worked in three different schools where she learned from some of the top teachers in Ireland. It is through their skills that Alex developed a passion for education. She also became extremely skilled at using educational technology and was given the opportunity to deliver professional development to some of her colleagues. For example, enhancing teachers’’ ability to use the 3D Maths Environment called ‘Project Spark’.
After completing her degree, Alex wanted to challenge herself and moved to London! She started her teaching career at the Matthew Arnold School. Throughout the two years working at the school, she was integral in raising attainment within her department. This lead to the school moving up in Ofsted ratings. In September 2016, Alex started a new job teaching Maths at KS3 and GSCE at Stanley Park High School which has been rated as Secondary School of the year in 2015 by TES. To stimulate her students and to promote their learning, Alex has also taken on the role of Maths Co-ordinator which entails organising and running different maths competitions and themed activities throughout the school.
Through her positivity and enthusiastic manner, Alex has the capacity to win around even the most reluctant learners. She is inventive and relates very well to her pupils’ centres of interest.
